Getting Started

Creating Your Account

To create an account on TheOtherBoard, click the "Register" button and select "I'm a Client." You'll need to provide:

  • Username: Choose something discreet that doesn't reveal your real identity
  • Email: Use a valid email for verification and important notifications
  • Password: Create a strong, unique password

Privacy Tip

Consider using a separate email address dedicated to this platform for added privacy. Many users create a new email specifically for this purpose.

Completing Your Profile

While your profile information is limited compared to providers, having a complete profile significantly increases your credibility. Providers are much more likely to respond to clients with established profiles.

Your profile can include:

  • Display name (can be different from username)
  • Brief introduction
  • General location (city/region)

Email Verification

After registration, you'll receive a verification email. Click the link to verify your account. Verified accounts have access to all features and are trusted more by providers.

Finding Providers

Our powerful search helps you find exactly what you're looking for:

  • Location: Search by city, state, or region
  • Attributes: Filter by physical characteristics, services, and more
  • Availability: See who's available now vs. recently active
  • Sort Options: Sort by newest, most reviewed, or recently active

Understanding Provider Profiles

Provider profiles contain important information:

  • Photos: Profile pictures and galleries
  • Bio: Personal description and personality
  • Rates: Pricing information (if provided)
  • Location: Service areas
  • Reviews: Feedback from other clients
  • Contact Information: How to reach them

Availability Status Explained

Available Now

Provider has flipped on their public availability badge — they're actively accepting requests right now. This is an opt-in toggle the provider controls themselves; the badge auto-expires when they set it to.

Online

Provider is currently signed in. They may or may not be available — this just indicates they're browsing.

Making Contact

Sending Your First Message

The first impression matters. A well-crafted introductory message significantly increases your chances of getting a response. Here's what to include:

  • Brief introduction of yourself
  • How you found them (e.g., "I saw your profile on TOB")
  • What interests you about them specifically
  • Your general availability or preferred timing
  • Any relevant references if you have them

Good Message Example

"Hello [Name], I came across your profile and was impressed by [specific detail]. I'm a respectful gentleman in [general area] looking to connect. I'm typically available [days/times]. I have references from [if applicable]. Looking forward to hearing from you."

What NOT to Do

Don't send one-word messages like "Hey" or "Available?" Don't ask for explicit services in your first message. Don't request photos not already in their profile. Don't haggle on rates or make lowball offers.

Etiquette & Best Practices

  • Be Patient: Providers are busy and may not respond immediately
  • Be Respectful: Treat every interaction professionally
  • Follow Guidelines: Read their profile for any specific contact instructions
  • Don't Spam: If you don't get a response, don't send multiple messages
  • Respect Boundaries: "No" means no. Accept rejections gracefully

Response Time Expectations

Response times vary greatly depending on the provider's schedule and volume of inquiries. Generally:

  • Available Now badge on: May respond within minutes to a few hours
  • Online: Usually within a few hours
  • Otherwise: Allow up to 24–48 hours, sometimes longer

If you haven't heard back in 48 hours, it's okay to send one polite follow-up.

Reviews & References

Writing Helpful Reviews

Reviews help the community and are appreciated by providers. When writing reviews:

  • Be honest and factual
  • Focus on the overall experience
  • Respect privacy - never reveal identifying details
  • Be constructive, not cruel
  • Follow our review guidelines

Reference System

References are a safety mechanism that benefits everyone. Many providers require references from other providers before meeting new clients.

How to build references:

  • Start with providers who are "newbie friendly" or don't require references
  • After a positive experience, ask if they'd be willing to serve as a reference
  • Maintain good relationships with providers for ongoing references

Building Trust

Having references makes you a more attractive client to providers. Many providers only see referenced clients for their own safety.

Safety & Privacy

Protecting Your Identity

  • Use a separate email address for this site
